Gisela João is one of the leading voices in contemporary Portuguese music, recognised for her distinctive artistic identity and for a career that has continuously bridged tradition and modern expression. In 2025 she released Inquieta, an album that revisits essential works by José Afonso, José Mário Branco, Sérgio Godinho (via Capicua) and Lopes-Graça through new arrangements that bring these songs into a contemporary musical language.

With more than a decade of artistic activity, Gisela João has built a repertoire marked by rigour, originality and a strong connection to performance, with previous releases such as Gisela João (2013), Nua (2016) and AuRora (2021), as well as two live albums from 2015. Her collaborations across genres — from acoustic to electronic and alternative — reflect the breadth of her work and her ability to inhabit different musical contexts while maintaining a clear and personal voice.

Following the release of Inquieta, Gisela João is expanding her presence across Europe with a 2025/2026 tour that includes concerts in Belgium, Luxembourg, Paris (Le New Morning), Eindhoven (Muziekgebouw), The Hague (De Nieuwe Kerk) and London (Jazz Café), before her upcoming appearances at Primavera Sound Barcelona and Primavera Sound Porto. On stage, she is known for performances that combine interpretative depth, clarity of purpose and an immediate connection with audiences, whether familiar with Portuguese song or discovering it for the first time.
