Molly Payton is a singer, songwriter and musician. Moving from New Zealand to London at age 16 Molly embraced the indie/alternative rock scene and quickly established herself as a prolific  songwriter with a string of EP’s including Mess, Porcupine, Slack and Compromise. Her music encourages a cathartic emotional response, the songs ranging from heartfelt acoustic ballads to  grungy rock anthems. She has toured with a number of artists including Beabadoobee, Arlo  Parks, Alex G, Tom Odell and Palace and has played sets at Primavera, Laneway and Pitchfork Paris.

In the summer of 2024 Molly announced her debut full length album “YOYOTTA”, named after  the title track “You’re On Your Own This Time Again”. It is a deeply personal project that depicts  the artist at her most vulnerable. While struggling to navigate the music industry as a teenager,  Payton’s father was sent to prison and her life was in disarray. Never wanting to lose sight of  her career Molly never took time to process this loss and avoided touching on it in her music.  When Payton was dropped by her record label and had to return to her childhood home in New  Zealand to figure out her next steps, she found herself ready to process this upheaval and  “YOYOTTA” was born. Molly’s longtime collaborator and friend Oscar Lang flew in from the UK  and together they co-produced the record over a month in friends’ bedrooms, Molly’s house and  using studios only when Molly could afford to cover the costs herself.

For the first time in her career “YOYOTTA” sees Payton truly step into the driver’s seat  creatively, taking control of not only the sonics of the project but the visuals as well. The result is  a body of work that ties together past releases and provides new context to the artist’s life and  emotions. Molly plays All Points East in August 2024 and is touring the UK and Europe following  the release of her album this autumn.
