Tamzene grew up in a small coastal town in the Highlands, and was discovered through a faceless TikTok account, filming herself dancing round the kitchen to her own demos. That same instinct for the personal and the unpolished has never really left her music. She writes with the lyrical wisdom of Laura Marling and the light, easy melodic sense of Olivia Dean.

Of mixed Irish and Jamaican heritage, her earliest musical world was Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone, before she later found her way to Hozier, HAIM and Lianne La Havas. What's stayed constant through all of it is a soulful, direct kind of pop songwriting, about love, growing up and finding your way home.

That sense of return runs right through her new chapter with 10K UK. This collection feels like coming home, built from a pull back towards the sounds and textures she grew up on, especially the gentle aliveness of the Scottish folk music she played as a young musician. She's written it from a deeper place of knowing herself and a little more of the world around her, and the songs carry that : stories, lessons, moments to turn around and enjoy the view.

That spirit opens the era with harbour. The track sits in the space between wantingto move forward and needing the comfort of where you come from, both a launchpad and a safe return. It's a song about yearning, growth and everything in between.

The release arrives alongside real momentum. Her Spotify monthly listeners have reached 137.2K, up 88.7% in 90 days and her TikTok has crossed 2M video views. Alongside her main channels, her madwitheworld burner account, continues to build intrigue around the new music through something more intimate and unfiltered.

With ‘that's not love, babe’ releasing August 28, Tamzene is building a body of work that's distinctly her own: rooted in where she comes from, looking firmly forward.
